A Step-By-Step Guide to Connecting Your Cascada Waterer in the Cascada App

Once your Cascada automatic waterer is installed, you can connect it to the Cascada app in just a few minutes!

Step 1: Download the Cascada App and Setup Your Profile

You can download the Cascada equine hydration tracking app in the Apple App Store for iOS devices and the Google Play Store for Android devices.

Sign up with an email and create your password. Once logged in, specify the city and state your farm is located. This information is used to set the timezone for your farm's profile. Anywhere you are in the world, your app will be set to the timezone of your farm to consistently track when your horse drinks throughout the day and provide weather updates.

Note: The Cascada app is free for anyone to use and multiple users can login to one account using the same email and password which means barn owners, trainers, staff, and boarders all have access to their horses' drinking data and hydration insights!

Step 2: Preparation

Once you've create a Cascada app profile and are ready to connect your Cascada automatic waterer, navigate to the menu, and select “+ Add Device". The first informational screen directs you to ensure your phone's Bluetooth is on, WiFi signal is strong, and confirms you are standing near the device for setup. Gather the black plastic button pusher included with your Cascada auto waterer order.

Step 3: Pair Device and Connect to WiFi

Open the arm on your Cascada automatic waterer and note where the pairing button is located, left of the sensor (be careful not damage the sensor). Next, take your button pusher and hold the button down for three full seconds. When you release the button pusher, the Cascada light will start changing, indicating that pairing is in progress. The app will now search for available WiFi networks. Select the your strongest network and enter your WiFi's password to establish a stable connection. Your Cascada needs a strong WiFi connection to maintain hydration track capabilities.

Step 4: Connect to WiFi

Once connected, it’s time to name your automatic waterer. Choose a name that makes it easy to identify in the app, such as “Stall 10” or “Paddock 4.” You’ll also select whether your Cascada is a heated or standard bucket to optimize tracking functionality. Don't worry, all this can be edited and changed at a later time.

Step 5: Link to a Horse Profile

Now that your device is set up, you can link it to a horse profile. Select a horse from your "Herd" and link the Cascada waterer. Once linked, return to the horse’s profile to confirm that the equine hydration tracking is active. Note: it may take up to 5 minutes for the device to connect to the server.

Hydration Tracking Test

Want to test if your Cascada app is tracking water consumption? Use a small bucket or cup to remove some water from the bucket on your Cascada automatic waterer. The app will update within 60 seconds and you will see changes to your horses' dashboard automatically. You can also refresh the screen manually by pulling down on the phone screen.

Removing the bucket from the Cascada, dumping it, and returning it to the device will not work to test hydration tracking is working as removing the bucket is not counted as a "horse drink". This means any time you take the bucket off to clean, you don't have to worry about those 3-5 gallons falsely counting towards your horses' drinking behavior.

What to Expect Next: Insights Incoming!

Once you link a Cascada automatic waterer to a horse in the hydration tracking app (who doesn't have data already accumulated), you can expect to see current data immediately recorded - total amount of water consumed as they drink and total number of drinks. Averages and other insights become available within 7 days of consistent drinking behavior.
